HP Recalls Power Cords For Fire Danger

HP has announced today a worldwide recall and replacement on AC power cords for HP Compaq products sold from sold from September 2010 through June 2012.  The products affected in this recall are AC power cords distributed worldwide with HP and Compaq notebook and mini notebook computers, as well as with AC adapters provided with accessories such as docking stations.

HP believes that certain power cords shipped with notebook PC products and AC adapter accessories may pose a risk of a fire and burn hazard to customers. We are taking this action as part of our commitment to provide the highest quality of service to our notebook customers.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

To find out if your HP or Compaq product is part of the recall HP says that potentially affected power cords can be identified by a molded mark on the adapter end of the power cord. The molded mark will be “LS-15”. Not all power cords with the “LS-15” molded mark are affected. (See Photo Below) If your cord does qualify as a recalled cord HP recommends to unplug it IMMEDIATELY and contact them for a replacement cable at no charge.
